Anthropic releases Claude Opus 4.7 with improved coding, higher-resolution vision, and xhigh effort level

Anthropic made Claude Opus 4.7 generally available on April 16, 2026, replacing Opus 4.6 as the primary API model. The release improves performance on complex, long-running coding and agentic tasks, raises the image input ceiling to 2,576 pixels on the long edge (~3.75 megapixels), and adds a new xhigh effort level for finer control over reasoning depth versus latency. Pricing is unchanged at $5/$25 per million input/output tokens; an updated tokenizer may increase input token consumption by 1.0–1.35× depending on content type.
