Google kicked off its annual Cloud Next conference in Las Vegas on April 22 by announcing two eighth-generation TPU variants: the TPU 8t (for training, 3× the processing power of Ironwood, up to 9,600 per pod) and the TPU 8i (inference-focused, 1,152 TPUs connected via Boardfly Topology with 3× on-chip SRAM). Google also launched the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, an end-to-end system for deploying and governing AI agents at scale, including shared "Projects" workspaces for teams and agents. CEO Thomas Kurian declared "the era of the pilot is over, the era of the agent is here." Alongside these, Google revealed that 75% of new code at Google is now AI-generated, up from 50%, and that customer API usage exceeds 16 billion tokens per minute.
