Anthropic shipped Routines as a research preview on April 14, a Claude Code feature that packages a prompt, repository access, and MCP connectors into automations that run on Anthropic-managed cloud infrastructure. Routines support three trigger types — scheduled cadences (hourly through weekly), API webhooks, and GitHub events such as pull request opens or workflow completions — and run fully autonomously without requiring a local machine to be online. Plan limits cap daily runs at 5 (Pro), 15 (Max), or 25 (Team/Enterprise); extra usage can be enabled via metered overage.
