Inertia Enterprises, the laser fusion startup founded by Twilio co-founder Jeff Lawson, signed two Strategic Partnership Projects, a CRADA, and a licensing agreement covering nearly 200 patents with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory on April 14, 2026. The agreements give Inertia access to NIF's foundational inertial confinement IP and collaboration on optical materials, laser architecture, and fusion target manufacturing at scale. Inertia raised $450 million in February and is building toward grid-scale laser fusion power plants using the physics validated at NIF.
