2026-04-13 01:04

Volkswagen subsidiary MOIA America has started testing a fleet of roughly 10 autonomous ID. Buzz minivans on Los Angeles roads, with plans to scale to over 100 vehicles and begin offering rides on the Uber platform by end of 2026. Each vehicle carries a 27-sensor suite (13 cameras, 9 LiDAR units, 5 radars) processed by a Mobileye computer, with human safety operators aboard during the validation phase. Fully driverless rides are targeted for 2027. Volkswagen Group and Uber's investor page jointly announced the LA deployment; TechCrunch covered the regulatory and competitive context.
